It's June, Already

I blinked and somehow it's already June. June!! Can you believe it?! It's been a busy few days around "Nash-ville," and the rest of the month promises to be even busier. I really thought that once school was out for the summer, life was supposed to slow down. Well, I'm pretty sure school's out and things have not slowed down. But, honestly, it's a wonderful kind of busy. I love having our offspring around and each day is a grand adventure. It used to be that our adventures involved things like finding deer tracks, watching ants and lizards or even a snake or two (for me, with binoculars), picking blackberries, long lazy walks, camping out in the front yard under the stars, and mud puddle splashing. Now the adventures involve packing and unpacking camp clothes (you just never know what might sneak into a duffel bag that's been at camp for a week); teaching my kids to drive (and I'm here to tell you-- it's not easy sitting in the passenger seat with a teenager and her new state-issued learner's permit); and of course, taking the cat to the vet. But probably the greatest challenge. . . I mean . . . adventure is swimsuit shopping with 2 teenage girls.
Does anyone know where they sell these? It seems that they were all sold out here in Georgia.

I feel your pain. I just got back from taking my teenage daughter and five friends to the beach, and seeing them in their suits?...I wanted to follow behind in a trench coat and guard them.

We're driving too and I'm getting paid back for all those times I rolled my eyes when my mom made constant commentary.

Ah memories!
Have a happy day!

We have 3 boys, and I can honestly say they never gave a thought to what kind of swimming trunks they pulled on! But, I did grow up with 5 sisters, so I've been there and done that!

Love your blog,

Nancy

This was a constant battle with my daughter (which I won, since I was paying) she just couldn't grasp the concept of "modesty"- & in all honesty, still can't :-(
I'm going on the ride alongs, too; we're 2 months into the boy's 6 month permit period. I didn't know my voice could reach that pitch naturally, & there is a huge dent on the passenger side floor where I'm riding the imaginary brake.

I had to chuckle when reading this! Our daughter was almost the death of me during her teenage years and especially during swimsuit shopping! Of course nothing was acceptable in her father's opinion unless it covered neck to ankles, lol! Our daughter was a catalog model for years so I think you can feel my pain! She lucked out though and has two boys and 0 girls, life is just not fair she needed girl just like her! Pam

I have the bathing suit chore coming up for my two girls too. The older they get the more I dread it.

I just love reading your blog--haven't been here in awhile because I couldn't find you--you should write books, a la Erma Bombeck or Nora Ephron! I will add you to my fave blog list! Have a fun, fun summer! ~Jann

LOL!!! We live near a Lake and my DD will not go there or anywhere else that involves putting a bathing suit on...she is quite modest..so far!

Hubs is going to start driving with her..I don't think I'm a candidate for that..I have more than my share of stress to begin with..LOL!
I hope you have a great day!

I will definitely check out the website someone mentioned above for modest swimsuits! I have 2 teenage daughters, and a little while back I kind of went on a rant on my blog about finding a prom dress that wasn't cut all the way down to Here and cut all the way up to There!

And BTW, my daughter got her license 9 months ago, and I still make her call me when she is leaving somewhere to come home, and also when she arrives at her destination. At least she has finally stopped rolling her eyes at me..... It seems she has just accepted that she has a neurotic mom.
