What Am I Missing?

These are the latest fashions from France. And I promise I am not joking. I saw it on Yahoo recently. [By Japanese fashion designer Junya Watanabe for his Fall-Winter 2008-2009 ready-to-wear collection presented in Paris.]

And I think my daughter summed it up when I asked her if she was ready to go shopping : "Dude, [she calls me "Dude" sometimes, even though she knows I'm not a dude.] that's what I want. . .to look like a mugger with a massive tumor on my panyhose-clothed face. Lovely. Just lovely. I give it a solid 10!"

It might do for a bad hair day, or bad face day, or bad arm day--I could give up my makeup, my mousse, and my free weights. On second thought. . . there just might be something to these new designs.

Hi Cathy,

This looks like a guest arriving at Tim Burton's dinner party. What were they thinking???

It could work for gardening in South Georgia, though. Great for keeping the sand gnats off! :)

Thanks for the good chuckle today!

Hugs, Bebe :)

How did the poor model even see the runway? Very odd, but sculptural.

Those are frightening. Also, they don't have arms.

oh my goodness! Those fashion walk styles are always a bit overboard...but this is a new extreme!
Maybe you and your daughter would smile and like to know that the correct term for a female 'dude' is 'dudette'.

You've got me laughing.... are you sure this isn't a joke? I can't believe it! I guess I could get the outfit and wear it to work when I have one of those "don't wanna show up at work today" moments.

I can't imagine anyone ever really wearing that. Maybe it's just supposed be an 'art piece'?

So what is the designer actually trying to say?

If I was one of those models, my camption would be:

"I feel really ugly today. I think I'll just wrap my swollen, mishapen, sledge-hammered skull, with an axe sticking out, in a tarp, then wrap my arms in a straight-jacket.....and call it a day"

Lovely.

Cathy that is the funniest thing! What was the designer thinking. Maybe they weren't on the other hand.
